I attended a women's conference a few months ago and there was a lecture on ways to improve your mental health. One of my take-aways from that conference was ensuring that I get that 30-60 minutes of "Me Time" in every day. Once I learned that setting aside that "Me Time" could help give me that reset, to get rejuvenated and decrease my stress, I knew I had to figure out what I was going to do. Then, I realized I could take something that I already do every day, like washing my face and getting dressed and turn it into a pampering session!!
I was already doing my daily skin care, but not always taking my time and definitely not always including those extra treatments that can make my skin more radiant, soft and appealing. So, I decided that I was going to use my evening skin care schedule and turn it into a home spa experience. If you are not already performing your skin care at night, before you go to bed, that would be my first recommendation. There are so many benefits to having a routine night and day skin care regimen. If you want to learn more about the benefits, get my FREE guide, "Five Reasons to Cleanse Your Face Night and Day".
Now here are a few things that you can do to for your personal "Me Time":
Incorporate masking into your skin care routine. Use of masks is not typically a daily skin care treatment, so when added it is a special treat. Different masks provide different benefits, such as oil absorption and clarifying the skin, or maybe hydrating the skin. Choose one that suites your specific skin care need. Since they usually require a setting time of between 10-20 minutes, there is ample time to unwind and relax. Maybe you can even turn on a little relaxing music while you sit back in a comfy chair. Be sure to follow the instructions that are provided with your mask.
Another recommendation would be adding in a little foot pampering/pedicure following your evening skincare regimen. Even if you've already had your toes done, you can still slip this in a couple times a week. You would want to get a warm basin of water to soak your feet or use a home foot spa. I recommend, foot softener of some type, a sugar scrub and extra hydrating body butter or foot/leg cream. Having a nice pedicure kit can help you get proper cleansing, buffing and removal of dead skin. Can't you see how you can get relaxed after rubbing that foot and leg cream at the end. You can give yourself or better yet, have someone else perform that foot massage.
Now, I've got a recommendation for your entire body. That's right, take a shower before bed, but do an all over body exfoliating treatment with an aroma therapy, sugar scrub and body wash and finish off with an extra hydrating lotion or body butter. You will love how soft and smooth your skin feels.
Last but not least, this recommendation might be on a day when you don't have a lot of time, but can provide that relaxing benefit. Take a few minutes and do a lip treatment, using a sugar scrub and lip balm. Removing the dead skin from the lips does wonders for your entire body. It is amazing how having smooth soft lips can change your experience. And next, follow up with a hand treatment. Combining these two things can create the "Me Time" you need.
These are a few recommendations. They are simple but can provide a powerful, relaxing experience. I hope you find these suggestions helpful.
